Our History

Combining decades of experience in the pharmaceutical, medical devices, and biotechnology industries, we identified a critical gap in specialized services for startups in Brazil. Despite the abundance of innovative ideas and disruptive potential in the country, many of these startups lack the structure, strategy, and partners needed to thrive sustainably and strategically.

Faced with this reality, we created the Brazilian Health Innovation Institute - IBIS, with the goal of providing the expertise and support needed for emerging companies in the health and biotechnology sector to develop transformative solutions and integrate into the world's leading innovation ecosystems.

The motivation behind IBIS is clear: to support health startups that need a bridge between science and the market, offering solutions that combine innovation with access to technology hubs, strategic partnerships, and business development.

Through a practical and results-oriented approach, IBIS aims to be the essential partner to help these companies grow and stand out internationally.

IBIS: Connecting History, Health & Innovation

The ibis, the bird that gives its name to the Brazilian Institute of Health Innovation, is a creature that carries deep and symbolic meanings across cultures and eras. Since the times of ancient Egypt, where it was revered as the symbol of knowledge, wisdom and healing, the ibis has represented the search for a deeper understanding of the world around us. In Egyptian mythology, it was considered the guardian of writing, science and wisdom, reflecting the ability to transform knowledge into progress.

This symbolism directly reflects IBIS’s intentions as an institute. Just like the bird, our goal is to be a bridge between deep knowledge and practical innovation, connecting science, technology and health. The ibis is also a bird with a global reach, present in various parts of the world, a characteristic that inspires us to think beyond borders, expanding the ecosystem of health innovation in Brazil and internationally.

While global reach is an essential part of our vision, IBIS also carries its brand with a Brazilian touch, through its colors and its very name. We are deeply committed to strengthening the healthcare innovation ecosystem in Brazil, recognizing the enormous potential of our startups, scientists and entrepreneurs. Brazil is a country of rich biodiversity and with a growing presence in the global biotechnology and healthcare scenario. At IBIS, we are determined to be a protagonist in this movement, connecting our local talent with international opportunities, and bringing innovative solutions within and beyond our borders.

In nature, ibis is known for its ability to navigate and adapt to different environments, always seeking new opportunities. Thus, IBIS also navigates the vast ecosystem of health and biotechnology, identifying new technologies, connecting startups, corporations and investors, and facilitating the creation of solutions that will shape the future of health in Brazil and the world.
